Music

Money donated to support Music at Michael Hall is directed towards helping our young children begin the wonderful journey of making music through the adventure of learning a musical instrument. Any donations fund both the Class 2 String Experience and the repair or purchase of instruments. Investing in our music provision is an ongoing necessity and in recent years, we have been able to purchase clarinets and flutes to lend out to budding young musicians as they begin lessons with our wonderful Visting Music Teachers.

At Michael Hall, we charge an incredibly low rate of £30 per term for instrument hire, where most outlets will charge much more. We are always looking to make the learning of an instrument as affordable as possible but this does mean that there are only limited resources for investing in the maintenance of these instruments. Last year, following a generous donation to the Music Department, we reintroduced Brass instruments into Michael Hall. We were able to purchase new instruments, refurbish our current stock and subsidise the initial lessons for numerous pupils. This project is ongoing and it has been a joy to welcome our first trumpet players into Lower School Orchestra.

We have also established an Instrumental Lesson Support Fund so that when things are tight, we can help our students' instrumental lessons continue. The initial monies for this fund were collected at the Kidbrooke Park Music Festival.

We welcome all donations as we look to expand our musical provision at Michael Hall.

Thank you!
