School Lunches

At Michael Hall, we believe that food should nourish both body and soul. Our vegetarian school lunches are lovingly prepared on-site each day by our dedicated kitchen team, led by Chef Lee. Using mainly organic - and where possible, biodynamic - ingredients, our menus are thoughtfully created with the seasons and balanced nutrition in mind.

🌿 Our menu now follows a two-week rhythm ðŸŒ¿

  • Menu 1 runs for one week
  • The following week, we move to Menu 2
  • After that, we return again to Menu 1

This cycle brings both variety and a comforting sense of rhythm for the children.

🌼How Lunch Purchases Work ðŸŒ¼

  • The two-week rotating menu will run for the whole term
  • Families may choose to purchase lunches half-termly (one block at a time), or weekly, if more flexibility is preferred
  • At the end of each half-term, the option to purchase for the next half-term will open again

This way, you can select the rhythm that best suits your family, while we ensure meals remain wholesome, seasonal, and carefully planned.

Bookings close at 9pm each Thursday for the following week’s meals (apart from Week 1 which closes at 9pm on Tues 2 Sept).

In the Kitchen – Did You Know?

  • All fruit and vegetables are organic; when available, we also use biodynamic produce grown in the school garden.

  • Other ingredients, including olive oil and herbs, are organic or biodynamic.

  • The only non-organic ingredient we currently use is cheese.

  • All meals are vegetarian.

  • We source our bread from HOME FARM BAKERY, a local organic baker in Heron’s Ghyll, who uses organic flour from Shipton Mill.

  • All meals and desserts are freshly made from scratch each day in our school kitchen.

  • Desserts are homemade, thoughtfully balanced, and not overly sweetened.
