Staff

Our staff enjoy the unique international community and environment of Michael Hall School, that aims to create a culture of mutual respect, tolerance and fraternity. We are committed to continuing professional development of all our staff and to training new teachers.

The Teachers at Michael Hall School are responsible for delivering the Steiner Waldorf curriculum to the students, guiding the children to investigate core subjects such as language, history, maths, science and geography through creativity and imagination. They aim to:

  • Clearly communicate with students, colleagues and parents
  • Commit to each student individually, throughout their years of school
  • Create lively, interactive lesson plans
  • Push themselves to grow and constantly question their teaching methods
  • Push beyond their comfort zones
  • Think outside the box
  • Inspire their students to keep progressing

Our Administration team works together to support the teachers, and the maintenance and kitchen staff work to ensure a smooth functioning of daily operations of the School.

Stephen King

Steve joined the Board of Trustees in spring 2025 as an independent trustee, bringing with him a wealth of experience in leadership, business, and Waldorf education. A graduate in Electrical Engineering, Steve went on to complete an Executive MBA at both London Business School and Columbia Business School. His career has been diverse: beginning in Toronto, where he grew up, he led the Marketing and Analytics functions for a retail bank. Returning to England, his birthplace, Steve went on to lead a strategy consulting and venturing business focused on sustainability and social impact. He now works at a global financial institution, where he leads sustainable finance solutions for banking and merchant clients.

Steve is deeply committed to making Waldorf education accessible to more children across the UK and to supporting the movement’s growth and innovation. He believes strongly in its capacity to transform lives, as it has in his own, and is eager to see Waldorf education regain its confidence as the curriculum of choice for parents.

Steve has lived in Forest Row for the past 10 years and is actively involved in a range of community groups and local projects in this vibrant village.
