Staff
Our staff enjoy the unique international community and environment of Michael Hall School, that aims to create a culture of mutual respect, tolerance and fraternity. We are committed to continuing professional development of all our staff and to training new teachers.
The Teachers at Michael Hall School are responsible for delivering the Steiner Waldorf curriculum to the students, guiding the children to investigate core subjects such as language, history, maths, science and geography through creativity and imagination. They aim to:
- Clearly communicate with students, colleagues and parents
- Commit to each student individually, throughout their years of school
- Create lively, interactive lesson plans
- Push themselves to grow and constantly question their teaching methods
- Push beyond their comfort zones
- Think outside the box
- Inspire their students to keep progressing
Our Administration team works together to support the teachers, and the maintenance and kitchen staff work to ensure a smooth functioning of daily operations of the School.
Jessika Hulbert
Education Performance & Standards Committee, Pupil Progress, Co Association (Independent Trustee)
Jess brings a wealth of professional and civic experience to her role as a trustee at Michael Hall School. She works as a Celebrant, officiating weddings, funerals, and other milestone ceremonies, where her ability to connect meaningfully with individuals and families is central to her practice. In addition to this, she serves as a District Councillor for the Green Party, representing Withyham Ward. She was elected Chair of Wealden District Council in February 2024 and, as of April 2025, now serves as Vice Chair. These roles have seen her represent the District at civic functions across the South East, demonstrating strong leadership, diplomacy, and public service skills.
Jess's experience as a parent in Waldorf, State and private schools provides her with a broad and balanced perspective on schooling and child development. As a former pupil of Michael Hall, where she studied from age 8 to 18, she brings a deep understanding of the school’s ethos and a commitment to its future. Her professional and civic experience complement her governance role, equipping her to contribute confidently to strategic oversight, stakeholder engagement, and community accountability.
Jess lives locally with her husband Peter, an architect and their much-loved whippet/lurcher Blue. With the youngest of her 4 children about to start University, she hopes to have more time for her garden, where she keeps chickens and ducks and extend her bee hives, something she is passionate about.
