Oslo City Steinerskole visit

Each year, we host a visit by the current Class 12 music specialists from the Oslo City Steinerskole and last Friday the students rounded-off their mini-tour at Michael Hall before returning to Norway.
The students' concert of covers, classics, folk-songs and current favourites is an inspirational highlight of our summer term and is always much anticipated by both students and staff alike. The event is open to everyone from Classes 6 upwards and this year, the students introduced a hang drum, an accordion and the Hardanger Fiddle to the line up of instruments that they bring with them. The programme included a superb performance of Grieg's String Quartet alongside a stunning a cappella part-song by the amazing Ola Gjeilo. The students' encore was a searching score by Shostakovich enhanced by movement from the students. This incredible performance was greeted by a standing-ovation from our pupils, students and staff.
After the concert, members of Classes 6, 11 and 12 congregated with our Norwegian friends on the stage before showing them around Michael Hall. Lunch was served in the canteen and our new friends departed for Gatwick Airport.
Thank you Oslo City Steinerskole! We look forward to greeting next year's Class 12, but if you would like to know more about the school (Classes 11 - 13 only), visit:
