Michael Hall Waldorf School’s Centenary Midsummer Festival

A Day of Tradition, Creativity, and Community

This year, Michael Hall Waldorf School’s Centenary Midsummer Festival unfolded beneath clear, sunlit skies, setting the perfect stage for a celebration steeped in cherished traditions. The day brimmed with the warmth of community, the vibrancy of creative expression, and the joy of reunion, as generations came together to honour a century of our school

From the very start, visitors enjoyed the stunning exhibitions showcasing the journey of Michael Hall students. Early Childhood and Classes 1 to 8 displayed a rich tapestry of bookwork and artwork, each piece reflecting the inspiration and dedication that define our school’s ethos.

The crafts exhibition, spanning Classes 1 to 12, offered a visual narrative of growth and skill, delighting all who wandered through its colourful displays.

Art, photography, and BTEC exhibitions revealed a wealth of creativity and accomplishment, while the Centenary Alumni Exhibition in the Great Hall drew admiration and awe. Here, the remarkable displays of bookwork and crafts stood as a testament to the enduring consistency and quality of Michael Hall’s education over the past hundred years.

A tempting array of food was available throughout the day, with the much-anticipated mansion teas served on the sun-drenched terrace providing a quintessentially English experience. It was heartwarming to see so many alumni reconnecting, sharing memories, and enjoying our beautiful grounds.

Additional highlights for many were the chance to explore the newly refurbished library, join a guided tour of the historic walled garden, or simply wander the idyllic campus. The pageant, a beloved tradition, was as joyful as ever, followed by lively sideshows that brought smiles to all ages.
As evening fell, the school’s production of “Fiddler on the Roof JR.” took centre stage, playing to a packed house and earning standing ovations. The students’ heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity to perform—and their gratitude for the unwavering support of teachers and staff—was palpable, resonating deeply with the audience.

Over the years, the Midsummer Festival has blossomed, thanks to the dedication of Michael Hall’s staff and community. It has become a much-loved, family-style celebration—a unique, authentic, and iconic tribute to one hundred years of tradition, creativity, and togetherness. As the sun set on this unforgettable day, it was clear that the spirit of Michael Hall Waldorf School continues to shine brightly, lighting the way for generations to come.
