Early Childhood Midsummer Festival

Last week, as the warm summer sun emerged from behind the clouds and blue skies stretched overhead, our Kindergarten children and their families gathered to share in the joy of a wonderful Midsummer celebration. Excitement filled the air as the children, tickets in hand, set off to explore a variety of seasonal activities and games. From creating delightful bumblebee crafts to cheering on strawberry boat races and testing their skills at hoop throwing, there was something to captivate every child’s imagination.

Bubbles drifted through the sunshine, as laughter echoed across the Kindergarten garden, creating a truly magical atmosphere. Hand in hand parents and children took part in circle games with joyful laughter and merry song filling the air. Children and families came together to enjoy refreshing elderflower juice, freshly baked scones, and delicious summer berries, all lovingly created and shared by the children with their dear ones.

Our Saplings groups enjoyed a wonderful sense of community throughout the week, sharing in the spirit of the Midsummer Festival. The children experienced the changing of the seasons firsthand, embracing the light and warmth of this special time of year. They celebrated the abundance of the season by harvesting its fruits and reflecting on all that it has offered as we prepare to welcome the next seasonal transition.

The two groups came together for a special expedition to the Valley Field, where the children delighted in exploring the large sandpit. They gathered for a communal ring time, strengthening connections across the wider Saplings community and together, they played with a vibrant rainbow parachute, symbolising the inclusive and supportive community we are building—one in which everyone is welcomed, valued and represented. The Saplings children also had the opportunity to gather their courage and confidence by taking part in a playful challenge, throwing “fireballs” through a large hoop, an activity that brought excitement, determination and a sense of achievement to the day.

Throughout the day and week, our Early Childhood spaces were filled with warmth, connection and a vibrant sense of community. It was a beautiful opportunity for children and families to come together, celebrate the abundance of Summer and create cherished memories in an atmosphere of joy, wonder and togetherness.
