Early Childhood Community Gardening Day
After a long summer break, it is truly wonderful to be back and to see our Early Childhood spaces alive once again. Filled with the joyful sounds of busy play, happy chatter, laughter, the delicious smell of freshly baked buns drifting through the building and smoke smelling clothes from our Oak Tree Kindergarten fires. There is something especially wonderful about returning after the summer months and watching our spaces come to life again. Familiar rhythms begin to emerge once more, friendships are renewed, new connections are made and the children return to exploring our spaces with their curiosity, imagination and a sense of wonder.
Last Saturday, we were delighted to welcome families to our first Early Childhood Community Gardening Day of the year. It was wonderful to see such a fantastic turnout, with families arriving ready and eager to get stuck in, laden with gardening tools and carrying a renewed energy for the year ahead.
Together, we set about trimming back our garden spaces after their summer growth. The beds at the front of the building had become wild over the summer months, so there was plenty to do! We cleared away the overgrowth, weeded, de-brambled and prepared the beds for the season ahead. Alongside the practical work, there was plenty of conversation, laughter and connection as familiar friends caught up and new families began to find their place within our community. There is something deeply satisfying about working alongside one another, sharing skills, getting our hands into the earth and seeing the fruits of our collective efforts. What a wonderful example to set our children too!

Your contribution makes such a difference and we are very grateful for the care you bring to our shared spaces. We look forward to welcoming many more of you to our next Community Gardening Day on Saturday 6th March!
Looking ahead, we hope that this space in the Friday Flyer will provide a little insight each week into the world of Early Childhood here at Michael Hall, a small window into the magic, wonder, reverence and experiences that fill our days. There is so much that happens within our Early Childhood spaces that it can be difficult to capture in words, but we hope these glimpses will offer you a sense of the richness and beauty of life here and perhaps invite you to pause, reflect, look a little more closely and share in some of the wonder that we are privileged to witness each day as we journey alongside the youngest members of our community.
