Early Childhood Candlemas

'If Candlemas Day be fair and bright
Winter will take another flight.
If Candlemas Day be cloud and rain,
Winter is gone and will not come again.'
With the celebrations of Candlemas and Imbolc at the start of the week, our Early Childhood groups took a moment to come together around the fire to sing for the emerging Snowdrop flowers that are bravely adorning our school grounds at this time of year, symbolising the earths slow reawakening from its Winter sleep.
These festivals share a theme of renewal, light and the anticipation of Spring, as we mark the midway between these two Seasons bringing promises of new life, hope and healing. It was a beautiful moment of simple togetherness as we walk towards Spring with enthusiasm and anticipation for brighter mornings and longer, warmer days. For now though the question remains, is Winter really done?
