Class 9 and 10 Spoken Word

In this recent Main Lesson Block, students were introduced to the powerful and expressive art of Spoken Word Poetry. Through listening to performances by renowned spoken word artists, students gained insight into how poetry can come alive when combined with voice, movement, and emotion. Emphasis was placed on the performance element—how rhythm, rhyme, repetition, and other literary devices work together to amplify the message and engage an audience.

Students explored themes they were passionate about, ranging from identity and nature to social justice and personal growth. Working both individually and in pairs, they crafted their own spoken word pieces, developing confidence in both writing and performing.

The culmination of this creative journey was a selection of performances at our Spring Festival, where students bravely shared their voices and stories. Here are a few highlights from those powerful moments.
