Class 8B Play- Death on the Riverboat

Just before half-term Class 8B performed their play Death on the Riverboat. Preparing a murder mystery means creating strong characters who are so interesting that they also become suspicious. The rehearsal process grows more intense as costumes, lights and set are added to the work of the actors, creating an illusionary world. The final element, which makes the atmosphere electric, arrives only at the performances - the audience. The Class is very grateful to the support we had from the Theatre team, our teachers and, of course, our audiences.

Here are some reflections on the process from the pupils.

"It was the best play I have done, so far."

"I think when putting on a play the most crucial thing is teamwork."

"We learned how to take on different characters that are not ourselves."

"I learnt what it is like to have all eyes on you... and how to get into character and how to be able to step out of the role."

"I enjoyed the warm-ups to get our voices ready, then stepping into character."

"I had some parts where I could add more emotion on stage, much more than I thought."
