Class 6RG Trip to Dorset

Wow – what a fabulous Class 6 trip!

A perfect blend of history, landscape, and ecology … from the intricate mosaics at Fishbourne and the grandeur of Corfe Castle, to the dramatic cliffs and seascapes of Durdle Door and Lulworth. And of course, a fearless fossil hunt in Lyme Regis to top it all off.

Out and about each day from 9am to 6pm, the children were endlessly stoic, supportive, and genuinely delightful in each other’s company. They had each other’s backs and navigated every twist and turn with ninja-like stealth.

We happened to pick a scorcher of a week — glorious sunshine all round — which happily meant plenty of fresh fruit and ice cream breaks for our weary (but cheerful) travellers.

The only real downside? Sharing the campsite each evening with approximately a bajillion midges (a term coined, quite accurately, by one of the children). Despite that, the group found their evening groove: endless rounds of ‘Wolves and Deer’, card games, and storytelling by torchlight.

Fossil hunting was taken on with serious enthusiasm — and it paid off. One lucky discovery even surprised our expert guide: a rare spine from an ancient Ichthyosaurus dating back a bajillion years.
