The first lesson for class one is a form drawing of a straight line and a curve. These lines are the basis for all letters and numbers. The children hear a story with visual images for the forms before walking the forms and using concrete materials to make them. It is then an exciting moment when the children are ready to draw them in their main lesson books. Class one are also told lots of traditional tales, many of which are used to teach letter sounds. This week class one heard the tale of 'Mother Holle' and drew some lovely pictures inspired by the tale.
