Bharatanatyam Dance Comes to Michael Hall

On Friday, Classes 5EN and 5TG were treated to a full day of workshops on Bharatanatyam, a traditional Southern Indian dance form. Taught by master choreographer, storyteller, performer and dance teacher Srikant Subramaniam, they learned a Sanskrit poem and a rich storytelling repertoire of movements with which to narrate it. They found the endless array of different finger and hand movements fascinating and ended the day with a colourful performance in the Long Room. Well done to all the children for their hard work, and thank you to Shrikant for introducing this incredible art form to our school community.
