Class 12 Heads

Class 12 began their Main Lesson year with the Head clay modelling project. To start, they modelled a small head to practise proportions and features. They then constructed a larger head out of coils, working out the proportions and adding features as they went.
The Human Head is a common Main Lesson in Steiner schools, where students engage their head-thinking, heart-feeling and hand-willing, drawing on the skills they have gathered during their journey through school. With the human being at the centre of our education, observation of the human being is an important practice. It develops empathy and an understanding of individuality, while also revealing the characteristics that connect us to others.
The students rose to the challenge and produced fantastic work. Well done, Class 12!
