Midsummer: Old Scholar Reunions

On Saturday we set up the Old Scholar stand alongside the information and merchandise stands outside the front of the mansion. The reunion gazebos were up on the front lawn for each class attending, each with their own sign, cake, and tea and coffee.

As the gates opened at 11am the groups started to gather. The class reunions span back over 30 years. There is so much joy in seeing classmates reunite and some of their previous teachers joining them too.

For those who had lived at Broadstone, we had our timeline concertina book, where Old Scholars wrote their names next to their house parents. We'll keep this for next year and continue to fill it (see the photos).

Thank you to all the classes who came, and to the other Old Scholars who registered at the stand.

Here is what Jonathan Stadlen from the class of 1996 wrote about his reunion:

"It's quite extraordinary having friends from that age, because I think it's at a stage when you're completely yourself before you start trying to defend yourself from life's difficulties or try to be cool. So I spent all day laughing at all our little six-year-olds currently housed in older bodies, where no one had really changed and all the group dynamics were EXACTLY the same. I feel very lucky to still be friends with so many of them after so many years."

Other comments...

Class of 1996: "Such a beautiful day ❤️" / "Oodles of fun to be a 6-year-old in a 48-year-old body and to have friends like you!"

Class of 2006: "Thank you so much for a well-organised class reunion! The extra touch of the cake and gazebo was really nice."

Class of 2014: "I had a wonderful time! What a time travel."
