Class 4VK South Downs Camp

Class 4VK had a wonderful South Downs Way walk and four day camp at the beginning of June.  The Class camped near lovely Alfriston. Then walked to the Long Man of Wilmington, visiting the church at Wilmington which has one of the oldest Yew trees in the country, which is 1600 years old! The class had all kinds of weather on their trip, rain, wind and lightening with thunderous Thor, but also plenty of glorious sunshine too. They ended their trip walking the Seven Sisters to Birling Gap.

Walking the South Downs Way with class 4VK, a class poem celebrating their trip
Meandering rivers, tumbling downs,
Swiftly flying skylarks.
Lighting fast stoat scurries through the grass.
Playing in the windy fields with a
Chaotic butting barging goat.
Strong winds, flapping tents, heavy rain.
Ancient Yew tree, gnarled, standing strong.
Milky hot chocolate and marshmallows.
Harsh breeze over the hill tops
Rugged texture of weathered chalk,
The jagged cliffs and the salty scent of the sea.
The splashing waves and snippy whippy crabs.
Playing in the soft wild sea
Wading in crystal clear rock pools
Pink sunset over the rolling hills.
Seven starry sisters dancing for the sea
Eleven Starry children arriving home for tea.
