Class 7RG Canoe Trip

Class 7RG went canoeing down the river Wye for their class camp. Over 5 days they canoed 39 miles in sun, rain, hail and high winds.
After being dropped off after a 5 hour coach journey, they got into the canoes and went 7 miles downriver before then having to put up tents and cook dinner.
We paddled for 4 days moving between campsites which meant taking down and putting up tents as well as working in teams to carry the canoes to and from the river - often up and down steep hills. This camp pushed each individual to develop resilience and determination as well as making the whole class work effectively as a team.
We had an amazing time and saw many kingfishers, Mandarin ducks, herons, egrets and baby chicks on the river. We also spotted a terrapin and shoals of large fish.
