Class 9: Putting Their Will to Work

Human development is often described in terms of three core faculties — Thinking, Feeling and Willing — and in our curriculum, the art is to weave these together so that students feel both challenged and supported.

In Class 9, students can experience a period of inner turbulence and self-questioning. Practical, hands-on work offers a powerful antidote: a direct reconnection with reality that builds confidence and resilience. When young people can see that their effort genuinely transforms something in the world around them, it strengthens their capacity to act with purpose — and that sense of capability is vital as they begin to form their identity more consciously.

Over the last couple of weeks, and with the generous support of our Site and Maintenance Team, Darshan in the Garden, and Olly, Class 9 have rolled up their sleeves and taken on a range of improvement projects across the school — in the Wood Yard, the Garden, the Clockhouse and Canteen area, and the Lower Kitchen. In doing so, they have not only made a tangible, positive contribution to our community, but have carried something of equal value back with them: the quiet confidence of knowing they can make a difference.
