Class 7RG Explorers Board Games

The Age of Exploration main lesson recapitulates European history post Roman Empire until the start of the Renaissance, is looking at the "discovery" of the new world as an apt analogy to the experience of the adolescent.
Whilst, not only looking at the discovery of the new world through the European perspective, the class also looked at other discoveries and explorations around the world. They discussed the difficulties, pros and cons of the discoveries both on Europeans and on indigenous peoples. The pupils finally looked at modern exploration including female explorers and explorers from other continents. In doing this, the pupils had a balancing of understanding that exploration is something that has happened through out the world by all cultural groups and genders.
The class then had a creative thinking project to make a role playing or board game based on a chosen explorers’s adventures. Then they had to research the places travelled, the achievements, and ups and downs of their explorers and incorporate that into their games . class 4VK were invited into play the games. Great fun was had by all.
