23rd February 2024

Dear Michael Hall Community,

It has been a very spring-like return from half term this week. In Early Childhood this started by watching the older children of the School pass in front of the Kindergarten building, dressed in the most amazing costumes, waving at the smaller children of the Kindergarten and Saplings. Watching this scene unfold from the Kindergarten office, I enjoyed the exuberance of the children but also of the adults. The delight of Early Childhood teachers looking on to those they have taught before and the playfulness of the class teachers (I am looking at you Mrs Greenacre) as they led their classes past in their own costumes, reminded me of the joy of the spring term. It is the Wednesday of the academic year- a pivot in the energy of the world around us and therefore the curriculum. A time to remember to be playful, whether that be slipping and sliding in the copious amounts of mud or going to celebrate the efforts of Class 12’s play. It is a time to put effort into experiencing the levity that comes with the sap rising in nature and ourselves.

Rachel Ford Blanchard
Assistant Principal Early Childhood

"Hello, I’m Tara, I live in Germany near Cologne and I attend the Steiner school in Erftstadt. I am very happy that Plaw Hatch Farm has accepted my application to do my 9th grade agriculture internship with them.  So in May of this year, I will to come to Plaw Hatch Farm for four weeks’ work experience. As the farm has no accommodation available on site, the farm and I are looking for accommodation for me nearby, from which I can get to the farm at day times and have a home in the evenings and on the weekends. The period is from 4th of May to 1st of June. I would love to live in a family and get to know the British way of life. If children, especially girls of my age, are living in the family too, this would be perfect, but of course I can image all other options. It is very important for me to find accommodation, because I have been looking forward to my work experience in your country for many months now. A little about myself: I’m 15 years old, I love playing the violine, canoe-polo sports and I love all kinds of craft work and I love animals. It would be wonderful if you could imagine giving me a home for the above period.  If so, please get in touch with me or my parents via e-mail: [email protected] oder via phonecall: 0049 2235 9882334. You can also contact Emma Hams from Plaw Hatch Farm, if you want to know more details about the project via [email protected]. Looking forward to hear from you, sincerely, Tara Fischer"
