Dear Michael Hall Community,

I hope you all enjoyed the half-term last week. The weather seems to have finally arrived and remained, at least for the time being! I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to take more leisurely dog walks and to stay outside for longer into the evenings. The colours and aromas of the Summer are around us in abundance, and interacting with the world seems a far more sensory experience at this point in the year. It is good to pause and reflect on how this makes us feel, breathing in nature.

We began our final half-term of the academic year with a beautiful Whitsun Assembly. These events are a constant source of inspiration to me, both spiritually and professionally, and this one was no exception. From the storytelling to the poetry recital, the multi-language presentation to the choral singing, this festival of wisdom and understanding was utterly immersive, and the reverence and respect shown by the children throughout was humbling.

As you will read below, this week has seen the launch of our new School Website, which we hope you find to be accessible, informative and a source of clear and exciting news about our wonderful school and its wider community. This has come to fruition as a result of the Herculean efforts of our team, with particular thanks to Kirsty Grant and Chloe Lewin for their incredible work on this project for the School.

My warmest wishes,

Sarah Stokes, Principal

New Website

We are excited to introduce you all to our new school website: www.michaelhall.co.uk

The new site aims to be more user-friendly for our students, parents, and staff and we hope that it will enhance the online experience for prospective parents and show the School in a positive and fresh light. It includes many new features such as our new blog, School Life, an easy-to-read calendar and a donate button for those wishing to support the School. While we have done our best to ensure a smooth transition, we understand that there may be some minor teething problems-please bear with us for now.

Amber Heat Health Alert

As the busy summer season continues, The Met Office has issued an Amber Heat Health Alert in South East England.  Please can you ensure your child/children come to school wearing suitable clothes and a hat for this weather.

We also suggest that they wear sun protection and bring a large bottle of water, there is plenty of fresh water available at school for top-ups. Any outdoor teaching/learning will take place in the shade only.

Dress Code Reminder

As the warm weather is set to continue, can we please ask parents and carers to ensure that students are dressed suitably for school. We are seeing a resurgence of crop tops, particularly in Middle and Upper School, and this is not suitable clothing for the school day.

Colleagues have been reminded of consistency in addressing any dress code issues. Primarily, if clothes are deemed inappropriate for school learning environment, students will be asked to change into their PE kits for the day. Should they not have a PE kit on site, parents will be contacted to bring in a more appropriate outfit.

Thank you for your support with this matter.
