Friday Flyer - 6th June 2025

Dear Michael Hall Community,

As we enter into the final half term of this academic year, I reminded of the pivotal time we are in as a movement and as a school and how, of course, we will feel this on the surface of ourselves during the build up to Midsummer. Many of our contemporaries around the world are having their end of year festivals, not having the extended festival breaks during the winter and spring that we are privileged to have, and exhaling into the warmth of the summer break. We, along with our colleagues in the UK, move forward into this term feeling in ourselves, and in the children in our care, the rise towards the warmth.  By entering into this half term with our Whitsun Festivals, we are reminded of the thread of truth that unites us all. The language that surpasses voice and permeates understanding amongst us all.  We carry this into this term, in our 100th year.

In our school it is the time of year when school trips, exhibitions, exams, and ceremonies all begin to happen.  It feels fitting that we kick off the joy of this period with the circus on the hockey pitch.  This wonderful event has been a staple for many of us, each time they come.  Bringing delight and excitement through dynamic storytelling and playfulness, we highly recommend the gift Nicole and Martin bring to our community.  Students enjoyed a fantastic performance yesterday, and I know that families throughout our local community will continue to do so through to Wednesday 11th of June.  If you would like to purchase tickets for any of their upcoming performances, please click here.

Wishing you a joyful week ahead,

Rachel Ford Blanchard

Meet the incoming Principal

Introducing Stuart McWilliams - School Principal Sept 2025

I am delighted to have been appointed as the Principal at Michael Hall School and look forward to formally joining the school in September.

Committed to education, I became a teacher some twenty-six years ago, graduating with an education degree with PE and Geography as my specialist subjects.

I am lucky that I get to live my dream every day as becoming a teacher was my childhood ambition. I moved into leadership roles in 2015 and have experience in both pastoral and academic leadership roles, which I took on prior to stepping up to a Headteacher position.

I have been fortunate to have experienced international teaching in Thailand, Switzerland, and Dubai in addition to working in a variety of school settings here in the UK.

It is the educational philosophy and the community aspects of Michael Hall School which were the school qualities which I was drawn to. Having been fortunate enough to have worked in schools with strong community identities, I am looking forward to meeting everyone, continuing my learning journey and working with all stakeholders in celebrating 100 years with a keen eye on what we need to do to secure another 100 years of Waldorf education at Michael Hall School.

Centenary Fundraising Gala- Cancelled

Dear Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we have had to cancel the Gala for this Saturday, due to the low-ticket numbers purchased.

We are using this as a learning opportunity and would love to hear your feedback as to why this event was not popular. If you have any comments or thoughts that could help us improve, so that we can organise the right event for the community, to celebrate the school and all those involved, please let us know in here.

Many thanks

Tatiana Sowter
Head of Operations

The tomatoes are all growing nicely. As the fruit sets and swells they'll need regular feeding.

I feed them with ferments made from tomato leaves, seaweed, and comfrey. Comfrey is considered a useful plant feed to support fruiting plants. Rudolf Steiner said that Tomatoes exhibit a strong vitality and independence and feeding them with tomato compost will produce very happy tomatoes.
