22nd November 2024

Dear Michael Hall Community,

This week has been a busy time in our school. We have seen a team of parents put the final preparations in place for our Advent Fair this Saturday. Thank you so much to everyone for their hard work, support and help.

During lunchtimes and after school, one can hear Upper School students singing and rehearsing together in the Mansion in preparation for the Advent Festival of Music.

Classes 12 and 3 have spent some time in the theatre working together on their Indian Tale in Eurythmy which will be performed this weekend. It is such a privilege to be able to watch the faces of the younger pupils who are in awe of our Class 12 students, but also to observe Class 12 students and how they remember their experiences, the reverence, the excitement and the wonder of the Lower School. It is so special to be able to work together with different age groups.

It is the time of the year when the outer world becomes quieter, darker and colder. This year many trees have already shed all their leaves, but we are lucky to still be touched by rays of sunlight. Soon a light might be lit within us, which will grow and become brighter. It can spread warmth and trust to others until we reach Midwinter and Christmas time.

I wish you all a beautiful, joyful Advent Fair

Michaela Devaris-Halla
Head of Upper School

Dear Community,

We look forward to seeing many of you at this year's Advent Festival of Music on 6th December when Classes 6 to 12 will be contributing songs, musical pieces and readings to a wonderful programme preparing the way for Christmas.

Every year we welcome a capacity audience to our Advent Festival of Music, and every year we invite families of participating pupils and students to claim a pair of tickets in advance of the remaining tickets being made available to all. Any parents of pupils and students in Classes 6 - 12 who have yet to reserve tickets have until late Sunday 24th November to do so.

From 9am on Monday morning, all remaining tickets will be made accessible through the Michael Hall website on a first-come-first-served basis. If you would like tickets, visit Advent Festival of Music Tickets after 9am on Monday morning to see if there are any left.

On the evening of 6th December, there will be a collection towards Music at Michael Hall. Last year, your generous donations funded the Class 2 String Experience and the purchase of clarinets and flutes for our budding instrumentalists to use. We currently facilitate almost 80 instrumental lessons each week, so providing instruments for hire is an ongoing priority.

See you on 6th December!

Warmest wishes,
Julian Rolton and Claire Hope.

Advent Fair- THIS WEEKEND

We’re excited to confirm that the Advent Fair is still happening this Saturday despite the weather!

To ensure everyone stays warm and comfortable, outdoor stalls will now be moved inside our wonderful mansion. Please see parents' email for all details, and full information will be available on the day at the mansion's info centre.

With warm crackling fires, delicious hot food and drinks and beautiful live music, we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to join the cozy and festive atmosphere from 11 am - 4 pm on Saturday.

We warmly invite everyone to join us for the opening ceremony of our Centenary Advent Fair. To mark this special occasion, this special moment will feature the stirring sound of bagpipes and a joyful performance by the children of Class 4. Together, we will also honour the teachers who have shaped generations of students at Michael Hall. Please gather at 11:00 am outside the Mansion to celebrate with us all!

The Ceildh will be running from 6 pm - 8 pm. This is a big folk music dance for children, parents, teachers and friends to take part in featuring the local band Folkadelics! It’ll be an opportunity for people to unwind and have some festive fun at the end of the day. Please join in the celebrations!

Tickets can be purchased from the information booth
inside the Mansion.

We are putting a call-out for anyone in the community that has photos of Michael Hall School through the ages.

Do you have an image of the playground before the gym or the theatre were built? Or maybe of the swimming pool when it was in use?

Please help us capture those snapshots of the school's history and send scanned photos to [email protected]
