14th June 2024

Dear Michael Hall Community,

Although the sun has been hiding behind the clouds this week, the movement of time and the experience of our curriculum can be felt throughout the school. Parents are hearing the stories of the adventures that take place at this time of year as school trips are in full swing. Bravery and endurance can be felt throughout the classes.  It is this time of year that children of all ages really have the chance to see other age groups in their day-to-day life.  Kindergarten children see the Class 5’s getting ready for the Olympics, Saplings children see the Kindergarten children finishing their skipping ropes before they head off to Class 1, and if, like me, classes happened to be close to the long room yesterday, they would have heard Class 12 singing on the open air stage behind the mansion.

It is a time of inner fire and change and a deep appreciation of our interconnectedness throughout the school.

Wishing you a great week ahead as we move closer to our Midsummer Festival next weekend to which all are welcome!

Early Childhood Assistant Principal

Remembering Simon Rogers

We are so sorry to have to share this sad news.

On the morning of Wednesday 29th May, our dear friend Simon Rogers passed on at a local hospital. Simon is a well-known and loved member of our community and had been following an integrative chemothermia treatment over the last 8 months. He had responded so well to it and was getting better and regaining his strength which makes his sudden and unexpected change of course when he seemed so close to recovering so very hard to bear.

Despite everything he was facing, Simon kept his beautiful spirit high throughout.

Our hearts and thoughts are with Simon and his family, Ami, Ziggy and Frankie. The family are deeply grateful for the support, love and help so many of you have given them in so many ways during Simon’s illness.

You are all invited to Simon’s memorial which will be held locally in the next two weeks. The details and date will be shared shortly. Please bring your memories of Simon to share as we gather to celebrate him and what his friendship meant to so many of us.

As many of you know, a fundraiser was started in October to help the family in meeting the treatment costs, some of which still need to be paid. It would be wonderful if together we can help to reduce this burden. Please visit the fundraising website: https://gofund.me/6b599c23

Thank you

Sachiko, Tanya and Itai
