Dear Michael Hall Families,
What a whirlwind of a week it has been for a newcomer to Michael Hall School!
From my introduction to my new colleagues on Monday, to the opening of the school gates to our pupils, each day has been full of new information and details which I will work hard to digest and fathom; it is a familiar feeling in new situations.
I was blessed to be in the first assembly of the year in which our new Class 1 were welcomed in as the youngest members in this section of the school. The Class 12 performance for them was warm, caring and deeply symbolic of the cycles ahead (well done and thank you Class 12). In Early Childhood we welcomed parents to stay and play, mixing with each other, the teachers, assistants and getting to be familiar (or reacquaint themselves) with the setting. The care and attention which is shown in our setting is genuinely heart warming to see. I am so pleased that our children are welcomed in such a loving way and play in such a natural environment.
In the opening assembly I spoke to the school with one focus which I had for each and every listener; invest in the process. As I invest in being present in every moment of my first year at Michael Hall, I invited the pupils to invest in making the most out of every moment in school. If we can fully engage, fully give ourselves to each situation and keep our minds open, then the end results will be the very best they can be. I invite our parents to invest with us in our processes through positive communication, supportive organisation and through our many events across the year.
I am hopeful for a positive year for Michael Hall in a holistic sense with each day being productive, educational and nurturing in fostering positive connections across the classes, the school, the parents and the community.
I am already deeply invested in this process.
Have a lovely weekend.
