Michael Hall School, in Forest Row, put on a production of Oliver Twist, performed by Year 9 students, which raised £322 for The Greenaway Foundation.

The cheque was presented to Emma Coleman, a trustee of The Greenaway Foundation and a former Michael Hall student, during a ceremony at the school.

The play was described as having "engaging storytelling and vibrant performances" and was attended by families, friends, and members of the local community.

Ms Coleman said: "It’s heartening to see the students come together to support a cause that makes a difference in our community.

"Their hard work and creativity not only entertain but also contribute to a greater purpose."

Michael Hall School is an independent school that follows the principles of Rudolf Steiner education.

The school was founded 100 years ago and focuses on a holistic approach to learning, nurturing the intellectual, artistic, and practical skills of each child.

The school’s curriculum integrates arts, music, and outdoor activities alongside traditional academic subjects, creating a balanced education that prepares students for life beyond the classroom.

The Greenaway Foundation, which is the charitable side of local estate agents Greenaway Residential, is dedicated to supporting families in need, particularly during the festive season.

Through various initiatives, the foundation aims to provide food and gifts to families facing financial hardship, ensuring that children can experience the joy of Christmas.

The funds raised from the recent play will go directly towards these efforts, helping to make a positive impact in the lives of many families in the community.

A spokesman added: "As we look to the future, we are excited to see the continued impact of Michael Hall School and its students on the community.

My children were privileged to experience a Steiner education. I look at them now, at 26, and see two undaunted and spirited individuals, imaginative, generous, merry-hearted, fair-minded, open-eyed, self-determined, democratic, adaptable, collaborative, grounded, grateful, kind and generally up for bringing what they can to brighten the horizon.'
