Advent Fair this Saturday, 26 November 11am – 4pm

Come and join us this Saturday and celebrate the beginning of the festive season at our wonderful Advent Fair.

A true family day filled with children’s activities, hand-crafted gifts, storytelling, puppet shows, music and food to tempt every palate.

Race for Space – Sunday 25 September 10.30am.

With only a few short weeks until our whole school sponsored fun run “Race for Space”, we can at last announce that our gym dept will be hosting training sessions for participants on each Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8.30 until race day, starting this Tuesday 13th September.

“Race for Space” gathers momentum

Over 70 people have already signed up for our sponsored fun run, “Race for Space”, on Sunday September 25th here at Kidbrooke Park.

The run is being organised to help raise money for the restoration of the Clockhouse to create urgently needed teaching space. Pupil numbers are growing and we need space for them!

School grounds open to public as part of National Gardens Scheme

This Saturday 11th June Michael Hall will once again be opening its grounds up to the public as part of this national scheme to make otherwise private gardens accessible to the public. Kidbrooke Park is a Listed Landscape designed in the 18th century by world renown Landscape Designer Humphry Repton. The 60 acre grounds boast a wealth of notable features including waterfalls, a Doric temple, a water garden, 2 lakes and a number of unusual specimen trees.

Michael Hall hosts BBCs “Any Questions?”

Last Friday Jonathan Dimbleby and his crew braved torrential rain and winds to host BBC Radio 4’s live topical news panel show Any Questions? here at Michael Hall as part of the Forest Row Festival. Mr Dimbleby (on crutches after a recent operation) was warmly received by the lively audience as he introduced the team of panelists drawn from the worlds of politics and the media. “Greatest unacknowledged health scandal..”?

TV should be banned for toddlers and severely rationed for other youngsters to protect their health and family life, a leading psychologist will tell MEPs today. Dr Aric Sigman claims that millions of children spending hours slumped in front of TVs and computers is ‘the greatest unacknowledged health scandal of our time’. Michael Hall wins Gold Award

We are delighted to announce that Michael Hall has won the Gold Award for South East in Bloom. In a competition including all types of organisations from across the South East, Michael Hall prevailed as the East Sussex winner in the School Grounds category.   The official presentation of the award will take place this week with the local East Grinstead Courier and Observer.

Walled garden gets unblemished organic certification

“A very interesting example of a diversified, locally adapted Bio-Dynamic market garden.”

That was the conclusion reached by the Inpsectors from Demeter who came to check the walled garden here at Michael Hall as part of their certification programme.

Demeter is an voluntary international organisation which certifies growers who offer organic and biodynamic produce. Home and away – class play on tour

Class 8b are performing The Winter’s Tale and taking the production on tour, along with costumes and sets they have helped to make. 

The pupils have been working for months on the play, which has been specially adapted for this age group by their teacher, Martin Schmandt.  All 24 young people act in the production which is staged with a double cast, meaning most of them need to know the lines for two characters.  They have applied themselves to learning not ..read more
