Class 8a Play - Twelfth Night
A synopsis by Gabrielle Hebrank
After being shipwrecked, Viola is washed up on the shore of Illyria. Mistakenly thinking that her twin brother Sebastian is dead, and overcome with grief, she disguises herself as a man, taking a new name “Cesario”. She finds work in the Court of Duke Orsino, and before long she has fallen in love with him.
Meanwhile the noble lady Olivia falls in love with Cesario, mistaking her to be a man but Duke Orsino is trying to court Lady Olivia!
In this tale of love and mistaken identity, we also have Sir Toby Belch (Olivia’s uncle), Sir Andrew Aguecheek (who also loves Lady
Olivia), Maria (Olivia’s cunning lady-in-waiting), Feste and Armina (Olivia’s personal clowns) and her steward Malvolio.
Malvolio’s haughty attitude annoys the others and they write a letter that lets Malvolio
believe that Lady Olivia loves him. He falls for their ruse and the hi-jinks begin.....
