You are warmly invited to arrange a relaxed visit to tour the school’s facilities and extensive grounds. We would be delighted to meet you. Please contact us to book a date. We are currently reviewing the possibility of providing 30 hours free childcare per week to eligible working parents via the Government voucher scheme. (See more below.)

Why choose Michael Hall Kindergarten?

The majority of parents choose Michael Hall because they are passionate about their child benefiting from a more outdoor, creative and holistic approach to learning.

At Michael Hall School we offer an Early Years Steiner Waldorf Education.  It’s all about your son or daughter developing a real love and enthusiasm for learning through creative play. Your child will develop their imagination and communication skills, along with the ability to think for themselves.

Our pupils enjoy the extraordinary care and attention of our Kindergarten staff in a beautiful setting - with as much outdoor class activities as possible every day.  Some of the key characteristics of our approach to education are:

  • taking account of the needs of the whole child – academic, physical, emotional and spiritual
  • basing our teaching on an understanding of the different phases of child development and creating a less pressured environment
  • bringing creative activity to every topic  - we believe the development of the imagination is integral to learning.

Our curriculums are broad, focussing on a three important principles - Rhythm and Repetition, Imitation and Play. Kindergarten activities include:

  • Care for the environment through purposeful activity (e.g. cooking, baking, gardening, and cleaning)
  • Fostering children’s play (unformed, natural toys allowing free-flowing imagination)
  • Ringtime – where seasonal content develops differentiated language, social development, fine and gross motor skills and movement
  • Outdoors - creative play strengthens and nourishes the physical body
  • Snack time – the senses are cared for and nourished and children experience social understanding through eating together
  • Repetitive stories and fairy tales nurture concentration and listening skills
  • Observation of adults engaging in meaningful tasks develops the will.

Up to 30 Hours Free Childcare Entitlement

We are considering accepting the Government’s 30 hour vouchers for 3 and 4 year olds from September 2017. (We will update this page - so please bookmark it.) We are probably going to be offering the most comprehensive Early Years provision in the local area. Many other nurseries cannot go beyond the 15 hours per week and cover the extended hours to support working parents (if eligible).

If you are interested in finding out about our 30 hour provision, please register your interest using the form below and we will contact you directly.
